‘Christ Church Academy is a haven for those who face challenges in their lives and learning.’
SIAMs Inspection 2024
We are a fully inclusive school. We aim to ensure all pupils achieve their potential, personally, socially, emotionally and academically in all areas of the curriculum, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual identity, physical ability or educational needs.
Our school currently provides additional and/or different provision for a range of needs, including:
- Communication and interaction e.g. autistic spectrum condition, speech and language difficulties.
- Cognition and learning e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, down syndrome.
- Social, emotional and mental health difficulties e.g. pathological demand avoidance (PDA), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
- Sensory and/or physical needs e.g. visual impairments, hearing impairments, diabetes, cerebral palsy.
Christ Church Academy Church of England Primary School has a named Special Educational Needs Co coordinator, Jenna Martin, who has undertaken the government’s national award for SENDCO. We have a named Governor responsible for SEND (Irene Docherty) who ensures that the School SEND policy works within the guidelines and inclusion policies of the Special Educational Needs Code of Practise (COP 2015).
To contact Miss Martin, please call the school number 01274 410349 or the office email address, admin@cca.bdat-academies.org.
We follow a graduated approach (or SEND support) by implementing a continuous four-stage cycle—Assess, Plan, Do, Review—to identify and support pupils with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) This approach is based on the Bradford SEN Matrix – Version 2.3 and Bradford District’s Local SEND Offer. This cycle ensures that support is evidence-based, increasingly tailored, and reviewed regularly to help the child make progress.
Please see the links below to find out more about how we meet the special educational needs of children at Christ Church Academy.
