Our Music Vision
At the end of their time at Christ Church our vision is to build a repertoire of songs where the children learn to use their voices creatively and expressively. Our songs change reflecting the time of year. Our children will be exposed to learning both tuned percussion and string instruments, leading them to be able to perform as a group or a soloist and giving them an opportunity to compose their own piece of music. Children will build up and appreciation of songs from a wide variety of cultures allowing them to understand their place in the world around them.
By the end of their time at Christ Church children will have had the chance to:
- play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts, using their voices and playing musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression
- improvise and compose music for a range of purposes using the inter-related dimensions of music
- listen with attention to detail and recall sounds with increasing aural memory
- use and understand staff and other musical notations
- appreciate and understand a wide range of high-quality live and recorded music drawn from different traditions and from great composers and musicians
- develop an understanding of the history of music
